Meet The Staff

Domenique, Treatment Coordinator

Domenique’s love for healthcare is evidenced by her previous career as a Licensed Massage Therapist. Working with many different people and personalities has shaped Domenique into the person she is today; very laid back and easy to get along with. She is always willing to further educate herself and to excel in the qualities she already has. She participated in the Beyond the Basics & ICD-10-CM AAOMS training courses and is currently in the final phase of being certified in medical coding. As a Treatment Coordinator, her everyday goal is to provide the best quality of service and care for each and every patient. Outside of WOS, Domenique enjoys spending her free time relaxing, watching movies, or playing video games with her boyfriend. Her dream goal is to open a resort spa offering different treatment modalities including massage, acupuncture, and yoga.

Emily, Patient Coordinator

With a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Emily’s passion is working with people. Her positive and enthusiastic personality helps patients schedule appointments in a smooth and easy manner as well as providing assistance with insurance benefits. Although new to the healthcare industry, Emily always knew this is where she wanted to be. One of her favorite things about Wayland Oral Surgery is the opportunity to attend continuing education seminars for the staff and expanding her knowledge of the dental industry. Emily is also working towards another Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the beach, trips to the cape, skiing in New Hampshire and spending time with family and friends.

Erica, Surgical assistant

Erica has always known from an early age that she wanted to work in the health care field.  She is a Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Assistant and came with extensive oral surgery assisting experience prior to joining Wayland Oral Surgery.  Among her notable achievements include certifications in Medical Assisting, Basic Life Support, Dental Radiology, Phlebotomy, and DAANCE (Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Examination).  She also has an Associate’s Degree in athletic training.  The vision of the office, its mission to take patient care to the next level through technology, and the passion for making patient experience top notch were qualities that made her realize right away that this was the place for her.  Erica truly enjoys helping others and strives to make every patient feel comfortable to provide the best experience possible.

On her free time, Erica enjoys spending time with her family and friends; she is the youngest of 4 and has 4 nieces. She is an avid outdoor enthusiast and loves camping, skiing, snowmobiling, and running.  She also enjoys giving back to the community and is currently a volunteer coach for youth cheerleading.

Lauren, Surgical assistant

Lauren is a surgical assistant and has been with Wayland Oral Surgery since 2011.  She is certified in dental radiology and is currently working towards her DAANCE (Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Examination) certification.  She is the office’s specialist in video recording of surgical procedures with our newly installed video system and also in capturing clinical patient photos for medical records.  These records allow us to not only educate current and future patients on various procedures, but it also enables the patients to get actively involved in the treatment planning process.  Establishing relationships with patients and making their visits very comfortable are top priority for Lauren.  She is motivated to listen, support and engage with patients to help them feel welcome to our practice.

Outside of work, Lauren loves surrounding herself with family, friends, and her fun-loving dog, Tyson.  She has many years of cheerleading experience and volunteers as an assistant coach for a youth cheerleading team.  She also enjoys working out, going to the beach and relaxing by her pool.

Mariko Kato-Koo, DDS, Office Manager

Mariko is the office manager at Wayland Oral Surgery. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in History and received her D.D.S. (Doctor of Dental Surgery) from Columbia University in 2002. During her years at Columbia, she was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society for her academic excellence. In 2005, she completed her orthodontic specialty residency at New York University College of Dentistry. She practiced orthodontics for a number of years afterwards and is currently taking time off from her beloved field. Although she misses orthodontics very much, she truly enjoys working with the patients at Wayland Oral Surgery to make their experience as pleasant and comfortable as possible. In her spare time, Mariko enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, cooking and traveling.
