Yong-Han Koo, DDS
Dr. Yong-Han Koo is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Koo attended Washington University in Saint Louis where he received his B.A. in 1997. He then graduated from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery, earning his D.D.S. (Doctor of Dental Surgery) degree in 2001. His residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery was completed at Yale-New Haven Hospital/the Hospital of Saint Raphael. He served as a chief resident at Yale-New Haven Hospital from 2006 to 2007. Upon graduation, he expanded his experience by becoming a faculty member at the Geisinger Medical Center, a Level I trauma center, in Pennsylvania, followed by an associateship in a group private practice in Lowell, MA.
Dr. Koo has received numerous academic and clinical recognitions, including winning first place in a prestigious national research award at the 88th Annual American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons meeting in 2006, the Medical Staff President’s Award from the Department of Surgery at the Hospital of Saint Raphael in 2006, and the Outstanding Resident in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Award from Yale-New Haven Hospital in 2007.
He practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from corrective jaw surgery to wisdom teeth extractions. His special interests include 3D CBCT guided dental implantology and bone & soft tissue grafting procedures as well as cleft lip and/or palate, orthognathic and trauma surgeries. He also diagnoses and treats facial pain, facial injuries and TMJ disorders. Currently, he holds operating privileges at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, MA.
Dr. Koo has a strong dedication to serving the community. He was one of the leading surgeons for the former Lowell Devils AHL (currently Albany Devils), minor league hockey team for the New Jersey Devils NHL.
